A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Seattle based visual artist and educator with over 25 experience. I hold a Bachelors degree from the prestigious Cornish College of the Arts in Seattle (2000) and an Masters from Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas (2008). As a student, I was dedicated and hard working, receiving high grad point averages in both of my degrees (3.98 with my MFA). This dedication continues in my professional field. I currently work full time through a combination of studio work and teaching for Pratt Fine Arts Center in Seattle, privately and for Dale Chihuly's National Foundation, Seniors Making Art. Community is also an important part of my career and life so I reside on several art advisory boards in the Seattle area.

In my ten years at Auburn Adventist Academy (AAA) teaching art, I have seen that for some students, academics, but in my art classes they not only found success but gained confidence and excelled. During the school year my students learn shading, perspective, contour, and scratch board drawing. I require the maintenance of a daily sketch journal to show increased progress during each semester. Being an art instructor/tutor is an opportunity that I have looked forward to for some time.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a very patient, hands-on style of tutor. I take the time and try to explain things to people who have a hard time understanding. I try to gage what the student is struggling with and also what they do understand, so I can quickly pinpoint their troubles and focus on the problem issue. Some kids need more explaining, others need a picture drawn out for them. I am good at finding what method people learn best with.
I graduated from the University of Washington last year with a BA in Journalism. I've also received an AA Degree from Highline Community College. Unlike many Journalism students, I have experience in arithmetic like algebra, pre-calculus and calculus. I've tutored students in math and writing, from first graders to college peers.
