New college graduate with teaching experience

I have 1.5 years of volunteer experience in teaching adult literacy. In this experience I have taught the alphabet, study/homework skills, basic consonant and vowel sounds, rules to the English language, and reading and writing. My sessions were one hour long, twice a week at the central library system.
I have experience in one-on-one teaching, but feel comfortable with no more than five students at a time.

Exceeded my GED tests and finished classes early

Enrolled in GED classes in late January 2011 and completed the courses within a week and took my GED 2 weeks later and passed in all fields with high scores or exceeding scores. Im 17 but willing to work hard and do everything I can to make sure the student passes and even exceeds on their GED. I have experience in GED classes and with the test since I have taken it and exceeded it recently.

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : Patience is as important as the knowledge when looking for a tutor.

Very patient. I have felt firsthand the difference that a patient tutor can make in the journey of learning a difiicult subject.
I have two children at home that I am always teaching. During high school, I often tutored anyone who needed it, particularly in the Anatomy and Physiology classes. I have taken 4 years total of A & P between high school and college, and have passed each course with an "A". English has been a very strong subject for me. I took Advance Placement classes for college credit in HS, and received the highest score on my exam in the school.I thoroughly enjoy tutoring children.

I have experience with teaching having completed three semesters of internships through my undergraduate and graduate programs; I taught Kindergarten, First and Seventh grades. I am a firm believer that the best way to learn varies from subject to subject. When I taught math my view was that the best way to teach was to break everything down into a step by step process and have the students memorize the process. Most other subjects can be learned through repitition, but math requires everything to be broken down.

I enjoy working with elementary aged children. I believe that all children want to learn but all have individual styles that an instructor must recognize. You can actually see the "a-ha" factor when a child has processed and understood something. That is my favorite expression. It looks like surprise and joy all in one facial expression.
