My comments on tutoring Reading : I have taught reading for four years. I have taught grades Kindergarten through fifth grade reading curriculum. I provide reading interventions daily for my students, as well as the core reading curriculum. I am familiar with Corrective Reading, Six Minute Solutions Fluency, Sound Partners, etc. I have had extensive practice with teaching comprehension skills and building blending/decoding skills. I have been to several reading trainings, including Anita Archer. I have implemented several of her practices into my own classroom teaching.

I use various teaching styles within my classroom. I try to find how my student learns best and accommodate to their needs. All students learn differently, so I try to be flexible in my teaching style. I do like to make teaching as visual and hands on as I can.
I have been a teacher with CPS for four years. I am currently a Special Education teacher for grades K-5. I teach a caseload of 33 students ranging in abilities. I have a significant amount of experience teaching reading, math, and writing to struggling learners. In addition to working with students that have disabilities, I also have a degree in Elementary Education. I teach regular education students within my intervention groups throughout my school day. I graduated from the University of Nebraska at Kearney with a BA in Spanish Translation and Interpretation and English. During my last two years, my Translation and Interpretation professor selected me to translate and interpret for the Buffalo County Diversion Program. Also during college, I tutored college students through the Center for Academic Success in Spanish and helped the students write and edit their paper (all disciplines).
