As a tutor, I try to identify the learning strategies of my students and then build off of those. For example, if I notice that a student is a visual learner, then I will try to incorporate diagrams, models, and schematics that can assist the student in understanding the subject matter or solving the problem. If, on the other hand, a student learns best by reading, then I will provide step by step instructions of how to find answers to various problems, or provide guidance as to how to identify important elements from a text. As a student at Lynchburg College, I have had the opportunity to serve as a Peer Assisted Study Session Leader in general and organic chemistry. I will complete my BS in Biomedical Science in May 2011, with a wide range a science experience, from immunology to organic chemistry.
