My comments on tutoring Poetry : I have a MA in English and I have taught college level composition (English 101 and 102). I currently teach high school Advanced English.

I guide the student to his or her understanding of the material. I do not feed information. I ask that the student come to their own conclusions.
I have a BA in English and Creative Writing. I received a MA in English Literature in 2005. I began my teaching career at Calhoun teaching English Composition 101 and 102. I have since been teaching high school (for 8 years) and currently am teaching honors 10 and AP Senior Lit. and Comp. at a local high school. English is my life! ha! I am extremely well read and very well versed. I know what it takes to score well on standardized tests and how to write "A" papers.

I have taught for over twenty years from 4th grade to 9th grade; for the last nineteen years, I have taught English at the middle school level. I began my career teaching 4th grade. I have also taught 5th grade and 6th grade English and Math. I am highly qualified in Reading K-12 and Middle School Mathematics. For thirteen years, I taught 7th grade. The state course of study requires students to write in all four modes of writing and all seventh graders are tested at the end of the academic year for their writing proficiency. I was born to teach. From 10 years old I would teach my friends during summer vacations or whenever I could get them to play my favorite game, school, (Kids don't play school anymore). I enjoy helping students make the connections. I use a teaching approach that is hands on and generally seeks to find atudents learning style.
