Coming from a smaller school, I understand the importance of one on one communication and teaching. Throughout middle and high school I tutored many of my classmates and friends, and continued to do so with whoever needed help during my college career at Ozarka. After taking Writing courses at UCA, I began to see how that one on one quality becomes lost in a larger school, so I began offering help to whoever appeared to need it. I received my BS degree in 2007 in pre-medicine. I majored in pre-professional zoology and I have a minor in biochemistry. I also worked at the Talent Development Center as a tutor for biology, botany, chemistry and biochemistry. I have a strong background in all science courses and maintained a 3.87 GPA throughout college. I have been involved in a lot of activities and feel the best way to teach is to relate to the student. As a tutor, I have worked with many different types of students and I found a way to relate the information to something they were interested in. I graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a double major in Psychology and Philosophy. I also received a minor in Interdisciplinary studies through the Honor's College at UCA. I consider myself a facilitator, not an authoritarian. I ascribe to the principles set forth by Malcolm Knowels and Benjamin Bloom. I rely on the strength and motivation of the student. I hesitate to call myself "teacher." I think I serve better as a guide which, hopefully, leads his client not just to a more enlightend place, but also to the place the client wants to be, or had in mind in the first place.
