A Little Bit About Me...

I have currently worked at the Herkimer ARC for the past eight years. I have alot of experience working with people with disabilites from severe Mental Retardation, Cerebal Palsy,Autism, Learning Disability and Mental Heath. I have obtained a degree from Herkimer College in applied science with a minor in education. I also went to Mohawk Valley Community College for two years to obtain a degree in Nursing. I am a very caring open individual who loves to help people. I am looking for part time employment to start a college fun for my three year old daughter. I have years of experience training new employess at the Herkimer ARC.
I am a hands on teacher. I can verbally explain things and then i like to utilize different techniques to ensure the children understand what i am explaning. I am opening to different teaching styles because each child learns differently.

During this past school year I was a practicum student in a second and third grade self contained 15-1 classroom. This placement gave me the opportunity to teach math, science, and reading to students with learning disabilities and various instructional needs. During student teaching I taught in a fifth grade regular education classroom as well as in a learning workshop. My experience in the fifth grade helped me to hone my teaching style as well as explore behavior management techniques. Working with children of all ages has taught me just how important education is. Reading and writing is especially important and they will need it in their everyday life.
