Creative, energetic tutor with special needs experience

I like to get to know the student and individualize the tutoring to his or her learning style and interests. I can incorporate physical and creative activities into the academic subjects if desired.
I homeschooled a gifted third grader, including administering standardized end-of-grade test, for 1 year. I received a Bachelor's in Dance from Brigham Young University in 2011, with an emphasis in Modern/Contemporary. I enjoy working with students and watching their growth and development academically. My approach to each student is different because I understand each will need a different approach. Initially with each student I identify his or her strengths and weaknesses with the material. While building on their strengths, I attempt to change their perspective towards the course material that seems difficult. A Little Bit About Me...

I myself am a visual and auditory learner, so I am very open to all types of teaching styles. I find that people learn better when several avenues of learning are available for a subject. Also repetition is a very important device for making knowledge permanent. I like to bring a fun and light atmosphere to learning.
While working on my undergrad I was given the opportunity to be a teaching assistant for a freshman college level film theory and design class. During this opportunity I was responsible for grading the daily work of our students, as well as being a resource for the students design projects. I taught lectures based on film theory and design, as well as specific pieces of film.
