I believe that I am in a unique position to help your students learn both physics and math. The experiences that I have had teaching various math courses and physics, I think, allow me to frame lessons that address the subjects in a way that dovetails with students’ previous knowledge, and asks and answers the essential questions that the math or physics curriculum should involve.
I strive to design experiences for students to step through to shatter their preconceived notions about math and the physical universe, and get them to understand underlying relationships. With normal class size groups... the goal is to provide a lesson with real educational content but to deliver it in a totally entertaining format... usually organizing the students into groups to a) provide support for the challenged and b) excitement for the total class as each group competes against the others. one-on-one teaching requires that the objective(s) be well established and then carefully focus on the individual student's best learning method, be it: verbal, written, reading, hands-on, or all of the above. In general a good teacher will be well planned and offers a delivery which teaches in concentrated bursts, with a brief break every 20 minutes.

I graduated from the UConn with a B.S. in physics and a minor in mathematics. Because I have used calculus and linear algebra on a daily basis as a means of solving problems I have developed a fundamental understanding of mathematics; an understanding that only someone who has used thse mathematical tools extensively can achieve. I have been tutoring for the past four years. I began tutoring at UConn my junior year and was quickly the most popular physics and calculus tutor on my shift. On several occasions I taught groups of ten or so as a class. It was then that I realized how much I liked teaching.
