My comments on tutoring Reading : Hello! I am a highly certified teacher with over 20 years of successful experience, with a devoted passion and love for teaching all children. I have been working with students from K-8th grades in all subject areas, including reading, reading comprehension, language arts, and writing. I have also worked with students with emotional and behavioral difficulties, as well as ADHD and ADD throughout my career. Currently, I am in pursuit of a doctoral degree in Instructional Curriculum K - 12. I believe in targeting the needs and focusing on difficulties a student may be experiencing. I have seen that as we tackle the academics, the confidence level of a child increases as well.

Serve as a role model by demonstrating skills and processes then act as a facilitator to help students develop and apply these skills and knowledge. I also use several interactive approaches to hone on students' varied learning styles. It is my belief that " failure is not an option". All students, both young and old are capable of being successful.

I have been tutoring independently since 2009 but have always liked helping others learn. I am good with math and numbers. Will go the extra mile to make sure the student/client understands that material. I like to provide as much feedback as possible to the student/client and build their confidence while tutoring them. I have worked with students as young as 5 years old teaching them how to count, numbers, etc to working adults in college and graduate school.

Reading is one of my top subjects! Throughout my teaching experience I have encountered students of all ages and abilities, from elementary students with reading difficulties to adult learners of ESL. My approach to teaching tutees how to read is tailored to each student's level because I believe that every student is unique with their own set of strengths and weaknesses. While I enjoyed teaching reading at High Point Elementary, I love one-on-one tutoring because of the complete attention I can pay to each student. My personality is encouraging, positive and patient, and that has served me well in building relationships at WyzAnt Tutoring and Thumbtack. My role is to help the tutee express themselves, use English correctly, and help expand his or her knowledge base.

My tutoring style is serious yet fun, and I bring a lot of patience and enthusiasm to my tutoring sessions. Students of all ages and abilities, from elementary students with reading difficulties to adult learners of ESL, have benefited from my services. My approach to teaching is tailored to each student's needs because I believe everyone is unique with their own set of strengths and weaknesses. With a background in psychology, I bring the added skill of communicating effectively with my students and quickly understanding their needs. My personality is encouraging, positive and patient, and that has served me well in building relationships with my students. My role is to help the student express their thoughts in a clear, concise manner, use English correctly, and help expand his or her knowledge base. Never stop learning!

I grasped the importance of education at a very young age and excelled throughout school. Early in my youth I also developed a sincere passion for helping fellow classmates who I saw were having difficulties comprehending course material. I had a knack for connecting with students, identifying the point of confusion, and creating different avenues to reach full comprehension of a subject matter. I have since went on to develop tutoring groups on all educational levels. I co-founded a youth group T.U.F.F. (Teach Us First Foundation) where we attend local elementary schools offering tutoring services in Math, English, Sciences and Social Studies. During high school I developed a teen study group entitled Let's Rap where we would meet (with professional tutors on site), assist each other with homework and discuss any material that was causing confusion in class. During my time at Albany ... read more

Certified Teacher wanting to help you!

Just as everyone has their own learning style, teachers have their own teaching style. I see my style as more hands on. When I create lesson plans, I like to think outside the box and find ways that motivate students in connection to their interests.
July 2011 I graduated from University of West Georgia in Carrollton with a B.S. in Middle Grades Education. I began substituting for the Heard County School System in August 2011. When I was in middle and high school, I served as a peer tutor. I guess you can say that I have always had a desire to teach.
