I have just earned my TESOL certification and am looking forward to beginning teaching English. I have spent a majority of my life teaching in one form or another. My elementary school, Hamen Elementary, had a program in which good students could tutor mentally challenged students. I did that for three years. I also spent 8 years teaching martial arts and three years teaching dog training. I am also responsible for the majority of my younger brother's education. He is special needs and got expelled from kindergarten. He has since graduated. So I have a great deal of experience teaching students of all levels and abilities.
I'm pretty laid back. I like my students to make effort and hope to add a little fun in there but for the most part I expect my students to learn at their own pace and it doesn't matter how fast they move but they have to make effort.

Hands-On Learning

I'm currently enrolled in Kaplan University pursuing my certification to become a Registered Dental Assistant with Extended Functions. I have completed High School and obtained my Diploma in 2014. I am currently tutoring a middle school student (8th grade) in all given subjects. I range from simple homework help to comprehension of certain subjects.
I love to interact with children. I believe that children should be involved with their school work. Hands on work and visual interactions help when certain curriculums don't sink in. Involving children to learn, beyond taking notes, helps them understand difficult subject and also helps them retain them better to memory.

During college, I worked as a home-school Spanish, Language Arts and History teacher for students ages seven through fourteen. I volunteered in classrooms, tutored, and provided childcare for children with special needs. I studied Spanish and abroad. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career in L.A. where I taught kindergarten. After three years, I decided to teach abroad and moved to a small Chinese city where I taught preschool. Back in the U.S., I taught an intervention class for struggling readers in the second and third grades. I also tutored for students after school in their homes. A Little Bit About Me...

I truly enjoy when I get the chance to work one-on-one with a student. I am the kind of teacher you will see sitting on the floor with a student, acting things out in front of the class, making up songs to go with the curriculum, and full of energy. I understand the difficulty that many children have when learning in a noisy, busy, and crowded classroom. Tutoring can give me that chance to reach a child who otherwise might get lost in his/her classroom. I believe that all children can learn, but that they each learn at a different pace, and in a different way. By one-on-one, and in a quiet environment, some students may rise to the occassion and be happy and more successful in school.
