Understanding the subject is understanding the student

I myself have add and dyslexia, so I know both ways to teach to kids with mental disabilities and ways to reach without. My teaching style varies from student to student based on how I see they respond.I like to meet with the student before we start scheduling lessons to understand who they are as a person and a student. Experienced Successful Math Tutor

I use a Socratic method whereby the student is encouraged to think about the math problem and generate suggestions about how to characterize it. Once the student's mind has been stretched a bit, I begin adding hints that direct the student's thought process in the direction of the solution.
