As an Associate Research Professor at Duke University I conducted research on the health of the elderly population and the genetic background to age-related diseases. I am well published, always serving as my own statistician. The background to most common disorders in adults is complex involving multiple genes, thus I used advanced fuzzy latent class analysis to identify high and low risk sets of gene variants and to define the level of risk for individuals. I have collaborated with graduate students and taught genetcs to medical students. As a co-founder and the scientific director of Matrix Genomics, Inc. I relate genetic concepts to others on a daily basis.

I received my BS in Mathematics and my MS in Industrial Mathematics from the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology. During my time as a graduate student, I was a teacher of College Algebra, Trigonometry, and of Calculus. I also tutored nearly every undergraduate mathematics course offered at NMT, including calculus, vector analysis, linear algebra, differential equations, probability and statistics, etc. I also took many Physics courses and have a very solid fundamental understanding of Newtonian mechanics. From elementary school to college I have loved education and learning which has been exemplified by my gifted and honors status. I have earned a bachelors degree in Environmental Science, which has strengthened me in the areas of math and science.
