I've been studying saxophone for 14 years. Since high school, I've been an active music educator and have taught students of all ages and backgrounds. My quartet that I've been involved with since the Fall of 2012, La'Ventus, has performed throughout the United States and Italy. We most recently were awarded Third Place in the American Prize in Chamber Music Performance Competition. In July 2015, we will perform at the 17th World Saxophone Congress in Strasbourg, France. In 1997 I was a teacher assistant for the Huntington Park High School music department. I ran rehearsals with the marching band, jazz band, jazz choir, beginning orchestra, and beginning band. In April of 2000 I started working at Middleton Street School where I had the music program under my direction for almost ten years. My first student teaching experience was in a preschool. The classroom was very play based and not very structured. I learned how to communicate with the students while they were playing and was able to help them learn through scaffolding I learned how to model positive behaviors to the children and stay away from the negative.
