In the years prior to high school I struggled with math but I had a few excellent teachers (my mother included) that lifted my confidence and taught me that I can achieve my goals through perseverance, encouragement and mentoring. I realized that math is simply a step-wise pattern of correctly followed operations. While in high school and college I tutored underclassmen and classmates alike by correlating math to something they enjoy such as food or money. Obtaining a B.S. in Chemical Engineering has further exposed me to a variety of science, computer, and business courses which all use mathematics.

As passionate of a student as I am, I equally enjoy being an active part in another’s understanding and learning towards a new and challenging subject. I have been in the pharmaceutical business for 17 years. My chemistry experience has been for the most part in research and development. To be more specific, my area of concentration has been in analytical chemistry and in the transdermal drug delivery arena.

I graduate May 2009 from Simmons College with a BS in Biochemistry. My courses taken during my undergraduate career were heavily focused in the sciences. I’ve taken upper level chemistry, physics, biology, and math courses. I tutored a student in zoology for a brief period of time. I was also a teaching assistant for Organic Chemistry I and II labs. I often met with students outside of lab to help clarify information and help answer questions on particular concepts and problems. I am furthering my own education by attending the University of Glasgow in the fall. There I will be studying veterinary medicine, which again is heavily focused in the sciences.
