My teaching style might be a bit unorthodox but it is something I have acquired from past teachers and tutors. I have not helped or tutored in a while but I believe I have an easy and simple approach to it. When it comes to physics and chemistry, the math can be learned over night, the concepts are most critical. You can't read a problem and interpret the question word for word. You have to find a way to relate it to real life and what you see everyday. A spinning disk becomes a truck tire, a sound device becomes a sub woofer. Things that you can relate to. I have yet to complete my senior year of studies at the University but I will be done by Spring 2011. I am working towards my first Bachelors Degree, BS in Physics and will continue with school after until I get my MS in Chemical Engineering. Physics and Chemistry have always come easy to me and I know that because of this I can help

I have been a classroom teacher for the last 18 years. I have taught in both Public Junior High and High Schools, as well as Private School. I love teaching science, and love to make the class exciting. It really gets students going when you use current events to teach and when kids debate issues, it is a great learning opportunity! I think all children are driven to learn, and if directed with a little help, everyone can learn how science changes peoples lives. I feel more like a coach and less like a lecturer. If you can make connections between things they know, and the things you are trying to teach them, they will have something to "hang" that new knowledge on!

I worked as a math tutor while attending Weber State University. I have been certified a master tutor according to CRLA guidelines. I have tutored beginning Algebra through Calculus 3. This experience has helped me retain the knowledge I have acquired as well as help form a great foundation that has served me well as I earned my BS degree in Chemical Engineering. I have been trained in using the Socratic Method of teaching which entails using questions to prompt the students memory and help them further be able to solve problems on their own. I also work out examples to further illustrate concepts to help them think through the problems they are working on.
