A Little Bit About Me...

I stopped working in the hospitals when my oldest child reached the age of 5, so that I could teach my children at home. The four of them are now grown and successful. I employed many techniques during my time homeschooling them, as between them were exhibited several learning styles. It was a delightful experience.

My comments on tutoring English : Can teach any level of English Literature or Grammar.

I'm very laid back, but I know how to get results. I have always been a very disciplined student, but I realized pretty early in my academic career that unless I make the subject interesting for me, I'll never grasp the material. I make it a point to get to know every student so that I can personalize their learning style. The only way they'll learn and understand something is if they WANT to do so. I offer a different approach to things that students may not get in the classroom, to hopefully expand their interest in a subject they never thought they'd like.
I recently obtained my Bachelor's Degree from the University of Southern Mississippi, where I graduated in the top of my class with a 4.0. My comments on tutoring English : A broad understanding of reading, writing, and communicating properly, English students will be encouraged to read and retain what they have learned, communicate effectively through grammar and correct spelling, and write well-ordered and logical responses to questions. A great course to improve general reading, writing, and speaking.

Throughout undergraduate and now graduate work, I have always had a passion for passing along what I know, in hopes of teaching and inspiring, and developing others. I have two years of private-school teaching behind me, as well as two summers working with inner-city kids in a program that used the arts to bridge the gap between social and educational shortfalls within the city.
