A Little Bit About Me...

I am a firm believer of the concept "know your audience", as each child may not learn in the same linear fashion. Children need to learn whether via spoken (lectures, slides,) or written word (powerpoint, research journals, quizzes,). I like to believe that the child does have will to learn and needs to find that niche of comfort in order to do so, whether informal group setting or sound strategic goal setting structure.
I have a BS in Speech Communication and MA in Public Administration, while currently pursuing an MBA. I have a very high comfort level in speaking/illustrating to others. My understanding of concepts range from Interpersonal and Organizational Communication/Rhetoric/ Leadership/ Art History and Psycholgy issues like self-esteem. Because I was a "non-tradional" student, one with my own children, I knew several things from the start: first and foremost, I will always treat students the way I wish my own children are treated by their teachers. In addtion, I have an understanding that not all children, nor adults, learn the same and need to be offered a variety of experiences. My teaching style is one of a facilitator. I want to be the one delivery the lesson, modeling what our learning targets are, and allowing the students to achieve the goals based on the new information given.
