I have a very flexible approach to teaching and am able to adapt to each student's unique learning style. I am familiar with ‘constructivist’ learning and have successfully applied this approach in the classroom with various strategies designed to assist all students in maximizing their learning. I encourage students to actively participate in their own learning, rather than being passive recipients. Students who are disengaged can become engaged when they are in a positive, supportive environment, where their own individual learning style is catered for. I have been involved in teaching of some sort since young adulthood. My formal experience was the 17 years I spent teaching Philosophy at Gonzaga University and North Idaho College. Prior to that, I spent a number of years teaching guitar. I am a published author and Internet radio podcaster, teaching on various topics in philosophy and spirituality. As a traveling lecturer, I have conducted instructional seminars and workshops on spiritual themes all over the country.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although I value my college degree in biology and formal education, my real love for learning and teaching has been honed over the years teaching my own kids at home. I've homeschooled them in every general subject for the last eight years. I have developed a love and knowledge for history, government, the sciences, writing, and mathematics up through algebra.
