My comments on tutoring Chess : Decent chess player

I have just finished junior year of high school and will be a senior this fall. Throughout my life I have always been especially good at math. I never fail to get an A in math every year. In 10th grade I decided to skip Pre-Calculus from Algebra 2 to AP Calculus BC when I enter 11th grade. Interestingly, I still found AP Calculus BC to be relatively easy. I am the vice president of a tutor club at La Costa Canyon High School. I teach students after school all subjects. I also tutored students outside of school. During my junior year I tutored a girl in Pre-Algebra who did not understand how graphs work. I also tutored a high-schooler in Pre-Calculus two weeks ago who had a final in two days. I came to his house and tutored him for a total of 15 hours (he needed lots of help) in those two days.
Very patient. Usually I will explain the concept, present a practice problem, ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I received my BS degree in Communications in 1974 and passed my CBEST test in December, 2008. I have been tutoring for over 6 months assisting a student rewriting her term paper. I have also tutored my grandson and younger daughter in high school and college math. I decided to enter tutoring and teaching after realizing how important education is while using my communications ability.
I have always enjoyed working with children and helping to direct paths thru life. I get along with children very well and am very patient. Children like adults have their strong subjects and weak ones and my style is try to find the strong points of children. It is important at what point a student lost their way, go back and help them get past that point. I want to make a difference in this small amount of time I have on earth.

A Little Bit About Me...

I thoroughly enjoy teaching, especially in a tutoring setting. Being able to work with a student in an environment where I can give them all of my attention really allows me to make a huge impact on them. I believe that in order for a student to learn, the student must gain confidence that he or she CAN learn. I am a very kind and helpful person, and implement a vast array of difference techniques to help a student no matter what type of learning works best for them. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in a life long pursuit of knowledge; a belief I have tried to impart to everyone I come in contact with. I believe in teaching my students HOW to think, not WHAT to think. Our future depends on our creating a generation that is capable forming their own opinions and arguments; a generation capable of wrestling with tough questions and arriving at well thought out conclusions. I would love to claim that I came up with philosophy on my own; but I must admit, it is a philosophy I adopted from two of the most influential educators in my life, my parents.
I can promise you three things if hired; I will never be late, I will never no show, and I will be the hardest worker you have ever employed. I strive to be a person of integrity, and I am nothing if not loyal. Though I have not worked as professional tutor, I have time and again found myself instructing and assisting fell ... read more

I'm a big believer of motivation and encouragement. Once the kids are motivated when they feel the bonding, learning success will be achieved in a faster speed. I'd like to talk to the children every day to find out how their days went and their concerns and challenges especially if they feel they're capable of handling of the situation and their ways of doing such.
I'm very passionate to help kids to be successful in school as well as in life. I've had 6 years of working as Student Aides in all levels of K-12; Math, English, Writing, and Arts, 5 years working as Teacher for Career Colleges: Websters, Phillip Jr., and University of Phoenix; Math, Computer Software Applications, Writing, Professional development, Accounting,Statistic, Student coaching, and Piano.

I graduated from University of California Riverside and received my bachelor's degree in Mathematics. Not only I gain more understanding in Math, I also spent most of my time with my fellow classmates helping each other for our Math assignments in college. During the spring 2010, I tutored one student who is struggling in Algebra 1 and helped her pass the class.
I love Math, and I would love to have the opportunity to teach children and adults especially students from k-12th grade who are struggling in Math. My teaching style would be to teach Math as simple and understandable as possible. I would also make my teaching style to be fun but my priority is to tutor students to be successful in their education.
