Hello! My name is Mihir Kumar, and I recently graduated from USC under the full-tuition Trustee Scholarship with dual degrees in Human Biology and Economics, and a minor in Mathematical Finance. I have more than 14 years of experience as a Literature, Language, Business Communications, Technical Writing, and Composition Instructor at the college level. I hold a Master of Arts degree in English Language and Literature and a TOEFL certificate which I earned before teaching for five years in Poland. More About This Tutor...

As a classroom instructor, I am conscious that one needs to constantly engage with and interact with the class. I always taught in a tutorial style, where after I've introduced the material the students must solve a puzzle or problem based on it. I believe that to engage students there must be a discovery component to the class. In a tutoring role, one can take the students strengths and build on those. Often a student has lost all confidence (and hope!) and doesn't realize how much he or she knows. By patiently building from simple problems this confidence can be restored.
As a graduate student at UC Berkeley, I was a TA for twelve semesters in a range of physics classes. In 2002 I won the UC Berkeley Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor award.
