Chess is one of my top subjects! I have competed in USCF chess tournaments since the age of 8. USCF Rating ~1900.

I teach using active learning whereby students will learn how to think critically. Chess theory, openings, strategies, etc. will all be covered. Lessons will be tailored to the skill of the student.
I have been playing club and tournament chess since the age of 8. I stopped playing at the age of 14 and have started playing again for ~6 months. I have won multiple National and State titles. Certified Chess Coach

For the past 2 years I have been the chess coach for New World Montessori School with 20 to 25 children ages 5 to 12 in my class. I received my certification from the U.S. Chess Federation in April 2012 and in June 2012 I began tutoring children in my home. I have taken students with no prior knowledge of the game to their first tournament and place in the tournament with 6 months of starting their chess lessons.
I work out of my home with groups ranging from 1 to 4 students. My method caters to the way children think and my workbooks present each lesson in a logical manner. I teach each lesson in a progressive manner so that each concept builds on the previous one, progressing to the next lesson only after the child understands the current concept.

Teaching on a one-to-one basis is the most personal and rewarding experience that a teacher may have. Part of the reason for this dynamic between the teacher and the student is because a student can learn many times over when it becomes a one-to-one basis. Of course, if a student is predisposed towards a particular learning style that is effective then it must be utilized. Reward and knowledge must be a constant. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations. I worked as a research assistant at Arizona State University until I graduated with my Bachelor's Degrees in psychology. This allowed me a great deal of hands on experience in applying mathematical and scientific principles in gathering data and doing statistical regressions.
