Having homeschooled my children (eldest is attending a top 20 public university)and volunteering extensively in the school community, I have become familiar with a wide variety of learning styles. My legal background has prepared me for tutoring in that I am able to effectively communicate with the student and present the material in a manner conducive to a learning experience(similar to explaining legalese to a lay person). Above all, I strive to ensure that the student has a true understanding of the materials, as opposed to simple memorization. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is one where I combine patience, efficiency, technology, variety as well as traditional methods. I believe that you need to keep learning fun and if you mix up different methods then it keeps the aspect of learning from getting boring. If a student gets bored and their mind begins to wander, they will have a much harder time retaining the information you are working so hard to teach. A great example of this would be for teaching children math. The internet has some great resources in helping students to practice their math skills by playing games. This is a great way to add a little fun and also teach important math skills as well.
