I hate lecturing! I do! This is why my tutoring style is very interactive. I don't like talking AT a person, I prefer to have a conversation. My goal as a tutor is to make subjects interesting, and also to make sure they stick- so you can do well on exams. I also teach study skills in every session, so ideally you won't have to rely on me forever. I try to give students tools that they can use to teach them how to teach themselves- something they'll have to do if they're considering college.

I have taught three courses at the higher education level (sociology courses focused on aging). I taught private trumpet lessons for 15 years along with free-lancing and conducting.
I received my Ph.D. in Social Gerontology at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 2009. During my graduate training, and in the year following, I worked for Scripps Gerontology Center as a researcher. I completed a postdoctoral research fellowship in the Carolina Program for Health and Aging Research (CPHAR) at the Institute on Aging at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in August, 2012.
