My comments on tutoring Biology : I am specifically experienced in animal care/habitat/veterinary fields

I like to use working examples of principles. I also embrace the "why" behind the facts as a method of reinforcing knowledge gained.
Most of my training has been hands on experience. I consider this a bonus as it promotes practical application. I did attend Boston University in search of a biology degree and marine biology minor. Personal circumstances made completion unavailable. I have also received certification in varoius animal care related fields and also hold the status of First Responder for Marine Animal Strandings with the Clearwater Marine Aquarium.

A Little Bit About Me...

Ever since I was little I loved helping other people with school. I spent my summer with my aunt teaching English to Spanish speaking natives and my cousins. Even though I can teach well with large groups I have always felt a child learns best one-on-one. It eliminates competition and helps the child develop confidence in himself and the desire to learn. I like to find the area where a child is struggling and come up with a creative fun way that allows them to learn but also the encourages them to continue working on their own when I am not there. I also believe that it is important to involve the family in order to help the child grow. Whether it is working with them or just encouraging their progress. A good solid understanding of knowledge acquired is the foundation to success in the future.

I have completed all requirements for a Master of Arts degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught mathematics, computer applications, life skills, and other subjects at high school and community college levels in Colorado. I have tutored and homeschooled statistics, college algebra, trigonometry, and other mathematics topics, and homeschooled a complete spectrum of high school level topics.
I believe in interactive teaching, where the student is as involved as the teacher. My satisfaction comes from watching students discover knowledge that they had previously thought unavailable.
