In order to reach all students, a teacher must use a variety of teaching techniques to meet the various learning styles of the students and must therefore be both flexible and approachable. Teachers should work more as an aid or guide that facilitate the learning process, rather than as omnipotent instructors who attempt to force knowledge into the minds of their students. Information should not just be passed down as if it is the last and all-knowing word. A Little Bit About Me...

My experience in teaching is broad and varied. I have taught medical students, other physicians, technologists, as well as teaching at military facilities. In additiom, I have two school age children myself and I believe that I am their primary teacher. This varied teaching experience allows me to tailor my teaching methods to the students and has allowed me to gain a great fund of knowledge.
I believe that learning is best achieved in a comfortable, nothreatening enviroment. People learn best when they understand the importance of the material being taught, something I strive to convey to my students. When tutoring a child or young adult, my goal is to conduct the session in a manner that is student-active. This strategy includes posing leading questions so that the student has the chance to discover the answers themselves and to take credit for their own learning. For example, when presented with work for a problem, I would ask why they chose a certain answer, and follow by asking what their approach was in determining their selection. In this way, I can identify any wrong assumptions or missed steps that occurred in the process of completing an assignment.
