I have taught Marketing, History, Geography, Reading, Journalism, Computer Education, Creative Writing, Interpretive Reading, Advertising, World Cultures, and Economics. I am certified in Social Studies, Business Education, Marketing Education, and working with Gifted Students. I have taught in both Middle and High School and am currently tutoring Elementary students in Reading and Math. I enjoy working one on one or in small groups with students. Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach. After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education.
