My comments on tutoring Literature : Graduate degree in English and American Literature. Taught English at secondary and college levels.

After attending (and teaching in) a graduate program in American/British Literature and Language at L.S.U., I realized that my true calling was teaching. I began teaching English, Journalism, S.A.T. Prep., Latin, and other subjects in Springfield, MA in 2003 in an alternative, urban high school. Literature is one of my top subjects!

Once while subbing, I entered a classroom where the students had been allowed to watch Jerry Springer on TV for the last two weeks. I couldn't let this continue, but I saw how emotional the class was about the show. I encouraged them to write their own talk show and told them we would perform it the next day. I find that connecting student's interest with the subject matter to be learned is the best way to teach.
After completing my undergraduate degree in English Literature at Florida State University, I worked as a substitute teacher in Hillsborough County for two years. In 2009, I completed my Master's Degree in Communication at University of South Florida while simultaneously employed at the Department of Special Education. I have been tutoring with Advanced Learners for 1 year and am currently an Adjunct Instructor of Public Speaking at HCC Dale Mabry.
