I am currently an intervention specialist for students in grades 5-8, specializing in reading content and reading strategies. A Little Bit About Me...

As a parent concerned about the condition of the public school system we decided to homeschool our last two children. I began teaching them in the first grade and have continued up to, and including, the present time. My son is now a high school freshman and my daughter is in the eighth grade. During this time I helped start a homeschool cooperative. We wanted to continue homeschooling our children, but we also wanted to provide them with more choices taught by someone experienced, or having an expertise in an area. I have a BA in pol sci from Wright State University with a minor in math. Since then, I have tutored at-risk students in various programs in San Diego. I attended National University and earned a teaching certificate. I worked in a junior college in San Diego as a tutor in math, English, reading, and social studies. I went on to work in the San Diego Unified School district as a teacher's aide and as a substitute teacher. I then accepted a position at the world famous Scripps Research Institute. I have spent 4 years as a Spanish teacher and the past two years as a substitute teacher while working on my master's degree in Special Education.
