Working in education since 2006 with ages 6 weeks to 18 years. I have student teaching experience from kindergarten thru 12th grade. I have substitute taught for kindergarten thru 12th grade as well. I have been enlisted in the Illinois Army National Guard since June 2012, and am currently enrolled in the Officer Candidate Program. There are many arrays of learning styles. I personally use visually, writing, and seeing the bigger picture. First, the mind can develop a concept or help map out the ideas by seeing the picture to the learning task. Second writing helps to reinforce the concept or idea. Lastly seeing the bigger picture helps to encompass their own ideas as well as the originator ideas. My experience, specifically within the past two years, has been extensive. During this time spent at Webster University I was hired by the Student Literacy Corps, a non-profit organization funded by the university for the purpose of educating students in the St. Louis Public School District in English and writing. In addition to experience in the classroom in developing and implementing lesson plans and developing interpersonal skills with children of many ages, I also studied subjects such as calculus, astrophysics, South African history, and music theory. Throughout my college years, I was involved in coaching high school aged students in baseball as well as younger kids in a baseball camp. During my last year of college, I helped with a after school tutoring program that included students up to the sixth grade. All subjects were covered and tutoring was done in one-on-one as well as small group settings. My bachelor's degree is from a self designed major I had developed to best fit the needs I saw beneficial for teaching in a non-traditional classroom environment.
