A Little Bit About Me...

I have been a teacher for 15 years in East St. Louis, Il School District 189. Over those years I have taught 1st grade for two years, and Middle School Grades 6-8 Language Arts, Reading, and Social Studies. I have also served as a Homebound Instructor for Elementary, Middle School, and High School Students for 3 years. In addition I have served as an after school tutor for 4 years with the YMCA and Sylvan Learning Center. I was basketball coach for 2 years for 4th and 5th grade students previously. I'm very positive and communicative person.

Student-Centered Approach which means teacher is the authority figure, but the student plays an active role in what is learned. The students are learning the information the teacher is giving, and the teacher is learning how best to approach his students.

Finding learning solutions one learner at a time!

I believe each student has an optimum learning style and I try to match my teaching strategies to that style. When working with adults, I try to establish motivations for learning first and then move on to the next step - how best to master the infomration or skill.
I have 25 plus years experience in teaching children and adults. I am currently working on my PhD in education with an emphasis on curriculum and instruction. I enjoy working one-on-one as well as in a classroom setting. Since I am completing my current studies online, I have a good understanding of online learning and studying style.
