As an adjunct faculty instructor at the University of North Alabama, I teach students in a public speaking course through a series of class lectures, individual and group activities, live performances, examinations, and out of class assignments. I work on skills such as audience and situational analysis, research, organization, delivery, body language, and listening. My comments on tutoring Algebra : I have tutored students in Algebra I before.

I am a teacher with 7 years of classroom experience. My degree is in English, but I have taught in many other areas, including math, history, logic, and rhetoric. I have also tutored many students in grammar and writing, as well as Algebra I and II. I have been responsible for teaching books to students from American Literature (Hawthorne and Hemingway), European Literature (Dickens and Shakespeare), and World Literature (Gilgamesh and Homer).
I prefer the Socratic method of asking/answering questions and discussion, but I am more than capable of diverting to a more lecture style of teaching if that is what works with the student. I tailor my teaching style to the strengths of the student.

I enjoy the interaction with the students when I taught at Shoals Christian. I am more of a concepts kind of guy, wanting the student to grasp the concept of what is going on in a specific problem. For many years, education has been one of my top priorities. I graduated salutatorian of my high school class and summa cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences. In high school, I tutored in a local elementary school, focusing on developing students' grammar and composition skills. While in college, I tutored chemistry, biology, physics and math courses up to graduate levels.
While tutoring at my college, I received specialized training on identifying and adjusting to different learning styles. I use this knowledge to tailor each session to the needs of the individual student. To track progress, I like to set both short-term and long-term goals and create manageable steps toward reaching these goals.
