I have been a self-employed Tutor since April, 2006. Special needs and home schooled students are welcomed. Nothing makes me happier than when I see the smiles on the faces of my students when they succeed rather than fail. I assist all students in skill building and creating a life-long love of learning. I provide on-going feedback to parents and am happy to work with the teachers of my students.
Whenever I can, I like to be very hands-on in my teaching my students. For example, once I was teaching my class about trees. I had them go outside and collect samples of bark which had fallen on the ground. Then we created a gigantic mural in my classroom and glued the pieces of bark to a tree we had drawn.

A Little Bit About Me...

For the last 25 years, I taught mathematics in grades 7-12 in central New York near Syracuse before I moved to Jacksonville. Although my focus has been math, I like to focus on study skills that best fit the learning style of the individual student, whether it is math or English or Social Studies. I also spent 3 years at Colgate University as a User Services Consultant in the Computer Laboratory. That title meant it was my responsibility to work with students on their resumes, cover letters, job applications and on any computer software that we supported.
