All through college I Tutored children at-risk and/or having a disability. I determined individual needs and apply a variety of methods to help children learn. As a first grade teaching after school I tutor first grader with reading and math. I like children to learn in a fun way. Students need to get up and learn. Worksheets are not something that I like to do when tutoring. Children sit in a desk all day. They do not want to then go and tutor and sit some more. I like to get the kids up and learning.
I like children to get up and move and learn. All students learn differently and it is up to me to learn what it is and then use that to help them learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned a bachelor's degree in French, for that is the subject for which I have the most passion. During my time at the University of Southern Maine, I also took several classes each in Political Science, History, and Criminology. I have written many papers, both for research and writings' sake. This program worked with several schools in the Rochester, NY area to provide in school and after school tutoring and teaching assistance to children grades 6-12. I specialized at one school, Hope Hall in Gates, NY, where I worked with students who had a variety of learning challenges. My approach to teaching is that all children can learn given opportunities in a "safe" environment. I taught many students with learning challenges and I had to individualize their program. I used multiple intelligences to help students learn using their strengths to help them with their weaknesses. It made learning more fun and easier for them to grasp.
I graduated with a BA in French and Elementary Education and taught for 4 years in multi-age classrooms. Then I tutored while I stayed home with my children. I resumed teaching 1995 and earned an MAT in Elementary Education in 1998.
