A Little Bit About Me...

I am currently student teaching as an English as a Second Language teacher through the Masters program at Hamline University and will be applying for my teaching license in March, 2010. I have extensive experience working with non-native English speakers both inside and outside the classroom. I also have spent over 10 years studying French and spent a semester abroad in France, so I am familiar with all the aspects of language learning both as student and as a teacher. I believe that each child has their own special style of learning in which they succeed the best at. When I tutor students I take the time to get to know each student on an individual basis and as a unique person. I make it a priority to determine their learning style and use that to implement a plan. I try and understand the reason they are having problems in their studies and then execute a plan in which they can succeed. I create study guides, review questions, and sample test questions for the students as well. In addition, a tutor can be a positive role model in student's lives and serve as a mentor and can be a person who the students can count on to answer questions.
