My teaching philosophy is simple; I believe in providing a safe and positive atmosphere for students to learn. In creating this positive atmosphere I motivate my students by showing them that they can indeed, be successful. I help them move toward success by teaching content, but also building trust with the students. I was a teachers aid at the University of Minnesota for three years in the anatomy department. I was a the lead embalmer for the University and worked for the Anatomy bequest program. I was licensed in mortuary science in 2007 and have been working as a funeral director and Retail manager for the past three years.

I believe that people learn in different fashions. For example, I feel that some concepts may be better explained with tangible objects while other concepts are learned better when questioned and discussed. By exploring the different ways of learning we can find what works best for that individual and use that method as a tool for their understanding. I feel, in the past, that many of the peers I tutored not only obtained/recollected more information, but were more comfortable in a quiet, relaxed environment. While earning my BA in history, I was able to lean many aspects of history. My studies ranged from the Mild Ages to the 1960s and current. I was also able to intern with the Sherburne County History Center where I learned on the job techniques and how to interact with children. Though teaching was not my primary role at the History Center, I was exposed to many opportunities not only to teach but to help others track down their lineage.
