I knew I always wanted to work with children and I have loved all of my teaching experiences. I pushed myself to get a dual certification in Elementary and Special Education from Duquesne University. Out of college I had a few long-term sub positions in area school districts before getting a full time teaching position at Charters Valley School District. At Charters Valley I taught eighth grade learning support for 4 years before transferring to be third grade classroom teacher for 2 years. My learning support classroom had a range of disabilities from reading difficulty to autism. While teaching at Charters Valley, I continued my education and by getting my Master’s Equivalency in education. I graduated from Youngstown State University with my Bachelors of Science in Education in May 2009. During my four years there, I have learned how to prepare developmentally age-appropriate lesson plans, the importance of applying reflective practice based on achievement of learning goals, as well as fostering collaborative relationships to support student learning and well-being.
