One of the best compliments that a teacher/tutor can receive is to hear from a parent that their child loves to learn when he used to resent school. Obtaining my Bachelor of Science degree and Middle School endorsement from Faith Baptist Bible College has given me the ability to help others have a passion for learning. I have the most experience and expertise in reading, but also have experience in cognitive training as well as tutoring in composition, grammar, reading, math, and study skills.
I am a “hands-on” type of teacher who likes to get a lot of senses involved in order to enhance student learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I tutored for two years at the Iowa State University Tutors Office, Iowa State University, Ames, IA. I tutored anatomy, physiology, biology, zoology. I taught for one year at Graceland University, Des Moines, IA
I don't have a style. When I left high school in rural Iowa I was told I was retarded and would never even be able to write a check. At age 38 when struggling through Iowa State my chem teacher sent me to be tested for learning disabilities and I had multiple learning disabilities but an above average IQ. I don't teach I allow the student to learn in an environment where they are listened to, talked with(not to) and treated like they have value and worth. I treat them the opposite way I was treated. And when they do well we cheer together!

I graduated with a B.S. degree in early childhood education from Iowa State University in 2004. As a result, I have had the chance to substitute teach and tutor in Iowa and California. While substitute teaching, I had the opportunity to work in various classrooms at all age levels and subjects. While tutoring, I worked with students grades K-6 in all subject areas one-on-one, and in small group settings. I have discovered that every individual no matter what age has the ability to learn and adapt. It is how the learning occurs and in what way the individual finds success that is the focus of my teaching styles.
