While living in Bangladesh, I tutored adults and children in English, as well as other subjects. I taught for three years in Bangladesh at International Turkish Hope School.
My teaching style is to make sure that those I am helping understand what is being talked about. If they do not, we will keep working at it until clear. Teaching Style: When the school busses arrived in the morning at Drumlin Farm, I would always welcome the visiting pupils with great enthusiasm. I would determine what the boys and girls already knew, or thought they knew, and what they would like to learn. Then we would go off to have a joyous and educational time learning about, and milking the cows, collecting and scrambling eggs, or planting pumpkin seeds in the warm May soil. I do not believe in hierarchy. I think the teacher-student or tutor-student relationship should be one of equal footing and mutual discovery. This means asking questions together and seeking out the fundamental answers to questions. I think all children and adults deserve a place to learn about themselves and the world around them where they are free to ask any question and challenge any assumption. This does not mean I am a push over and cannot create structure in a lesson.
