I have a very flexible approach to teaching and am able to adapt to each student's unique learning style. I am familiar with ‘constructivist’ learning and have successfully applied this approach in the classroom with various strategies designed to assist all students in maximizing their learning. I encourage students to actively participate in their own learning, rather than being passive recipients. I enjoy teaching kids of all ages and get along well with them while maintaining a degree of respect from them. I am capable at keeping them on task, even with challenging personalities. I enjoy doing hands-on work as well as print focused work. I have developed patience working with my own six kids in our home. I firmly believe that a good education must be adaptable, flexible, and incorporate a variety of learning styles if it is to be of maximum benefit to students. When teaching, I speak with my students about the kinds of activities they feel assist them most in retaining information as well as observing their learning style independently. I do my best to include activities that incorporate visual, kinesthetic, and oral learners. School isn’t always fun and interesting; it is called “work” for a reason.
