As I work with my tutee, at first, I establish a friendly contact that could lead us towards a more effective tutoring session. I am a very friendly and kind person and I would love to work with students of different ages. I hope to create a relaxing environment to make my tutee feel more open and comfortable. I believe my primary responsibility as a tutor is to create independent learners. Tutors should, essentially, work themselves out of their job. I believe in it because once my tutee becomes independent, he or she reaches the top level in studying and understanding; at that point he or she might become a tutor too and help other students who struggle.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have taken more than the amount of credits I need to graduate with a BA in mathematics from Luther College. I have minors in physics and chemistry. I have always enjoyed math. I have assisted an elementary school teacher in tutoring mathematics. I have assisted middle and high school aged children in learning mathematics when they have not attended class or have fallen behind.
When tutoring I usually ask prompting questions to assist the person in working through a problem. By building off of the skills the student already has it helps them better understand the process. If a student is learning new material or does not understand the way something was explained I will try to come up with an alternative method.
