I strongly believe that all students can find success as long as they work for it, and are encouraged to reach their goals. I am very patient with my students, and allow them to really think about the problem and work toward a workable solution. In my small group sessions I will usually present an example and have the students work on it while I go to each student to make sure they are understanding the problem. During my years attending UMass Dartmouth, I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in Sociology with a minor in Business Administration. But I also gained alot of experience working with children. I tutored elementary age students in the star program and college students at my campus job in the Unity House. I also was the coordinator for the New Bedford Speech Academy. This program taught students fron 4-6th grade public speaking skills. I have applied the skills I learned to my current job as a home tutor. I tutor elementary to high school students in all subjects.

I am currently studying to become a High School Biology Teacher and will be taking the Mass. Test for Education License in May 2011. In 2009 I joined AmeriCorps and worked for the Mountain Studies Institute in Durango Colorado. While I was there, I held educational workshops, presentations and forums. While in school I helped my classmates in two separate ways. One as a part-time peer tutor, the second as the co-president of the Reef Check Volunteer Club. As such I again got to train members to look for specific indicator species of biological importance. I also worked at a museum of natural science in Granville NY. After graduating from Haverford College with a double major in physics and astronomy, I worked for three years as an astrophysics researcher at NASA and Harvard University. In 2000, I became a teacher and a tutor. Since that time, I have taught children of all ages and adults in a wide variety of subjects.
