I love to teach, there is nothing more self rewarding then helping a person who is struggling to achieve something and helping them with their goals. I believe all students can find academic success somewhere if given the correct opportunities and surroundings. I firmly believe that I have been educated by some of the best and these educators have made a world of difference in my life and expectations. I would like to help students in the same way my educators helped me. As a college graduate, I was extremely driven to achieve a high level of academic excellence. I earned my bachelors degree in Communication Studies with a minor in Philosophy. These have enabled me to have an understanding of many areas of Language Arts, History, and English. As a Comm Studies major I was held to a high standard of technical writing with essay and would always use credible sources for my research.

I have discovered over the past year of substituting that I absolutely love teaching. Students are very comfortable with me as I am a very positive, friendly person who smiles a lot. As the parent of a college student, I was a tutor for 12 years. I know how to make learning fun and rewarding. I have a BS in Business and have worked in Mortgage and Banking for many years. This industry requires excellent written communication skills as well as practical math skills. I have been a substitute teacher for grades K - 12 for the past year in all subjects and have C-Best Certification. I am very familiar with the curriculum and I have an excellent rapport with students.

I am a graduate from Cal State University, Hayward (now Cal State East Bay). I received my BA degree in Liberal Studies with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. I also received an AA degree from Los Medanos College. I worked for three years as a pre-school teacher at Martin Luther King School for the Pittsburg Unified School District. I currently have been volunteering at three elementary schools in Antioch. I enjoy working with children and helping them learn essential life skills. While attending college, I worked in various classrooms for about two years also. I am very excited about having the opportunity to work with children.
