I graduated from TJ High in 2011, and I'm now attending High Point University as a Strategic Communication and Human Relations double major. I am also working toward a minor in Marketing. Throughout high school, I earned a 3.92 grade point average, which means in my 8 semesters, I only finished 2 classes with a grade lower than A. My comments on tutoring Reading Comprehension : In order to assess a student's Reading Comprehension, you have to read with them. With younger students, I will have them read aloud and then explain what they read. With older students, I'll read the selection with them and ask questions. One way I engage students in Reading is to make the material relevant. I use pop culture or the media to compare/contrast the reading and make it interesting.

I believe I have the skills set and passion needed to successfully tutor a variety of students. I have a Specialist degree in Curriculum, Instruction, and Assessment and I am a certified teacher with a master’s in Special Education. I currently teach adults studying for their GED. I also taught a self-contained, city-wide program in the District of Columbia Public School system for four years for students with multiple disabilities. A Little Bit About Me...

I was on honor roll in high school on a consistent basis. My best subjects were English and Writing. I attended Pennsylvania State University for Communications with a focus on English Writing and the study of Film and Media Arts. I have a thorough understanding of the English language and a strong knack for comprehension. I believe that I would be able to teach my techniques for not just memorizing subject matter but for comprehending and understanding it.
I help my students to ask questions about why something is this way or that way. It is not as simple as just memorizing subject matter in order to regurgitate it for the upcoming test. The purpose of teaching is to help others understand something that is known as true.
