Although I feel lecture, guided instruction and practice are a very important part of teaching mathemeatics, it is usually not enough as abstract ideas have difficulting finding relavence with most students. I rely heavily on my past experiences in my engineering career to draw real world examples to bridge this relevence gap. Additionally, I make extensive use of the TI84 graphing calculator to suppliment all lessons possible for the visually and kinestetic learner. As a fairly young male, I can relate to most everybody and try to break things down into a way that they can easily understand it. I am patient and enjoy working with students. I have had great results with my tutoring and I always received compliments from everybody that I tutored.
I worked at San Jacinto College North as a Math tutor for all math levels for almost 2 years. Then, I worked at Galena Park High School with a 10th grade class in a program called "GEAR UP" for about 1 yr until they shut the program down for funding issues.
