A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught ESL in China for more than 4 years. Through this experience I have learned that education is mind opening. This is a wonderful thing to cultivate in students and witness the outcome. The ability to form an opinion based on knowlege of the subject, and put it forward, either verbally or in writing, is the essence of education in my opinion. Through my experience in teaching Listening, Speaking and Academic Writing as a second language, I know that L1 students can grasp and use the information and ideas they are taught to benefit themselves and society.
I enjoy seeing students make progress, not only in academics, but also in learning life lessons from their study. I believe this is the real vocation of a teacher. Their abilities ranged from marginal to excellent, but every cadet had a strong desire to learn and excel in every thing they did in Civil Air Patrol. Being a Georgia Southern graduate, I learned to enforce high level thinking and appreciation of education. I received a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering Technology, which has enabled me to get a feel of hands feel in the area of math and science. With previous work experience my communication and grammatical skills are at a professional level and have helped me be a successful engineer.
