My classroom experience with Special Education started while in college at Illinois State University, where I gained very valuable experience teaching in a variety of classrooms. For one semester, I taught in a junior high life-skills classroom where we practiced daily living skills and went out into the community so the students could practice skills such as locating items in a store, paying with money, and crossing the street. I've been informally teaching for around 7 years, starting with private percussion lessons and high school drumline instruction and most recently tutoring through the Migrant Education Program in the subject areas of English as a Second Language, math, science, and Spanish. I am a current Geography Teacher Education student at Illinois State University minoring in Spanish. I will receive my license after completing my student teaching requirement in the spring of 2015.
I propone an exploratory, learn-by-doing philosophy regarding education; I believe that students are best served producing their own inquiries (guided by an educator), and then seeking resolution through gathering information. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching has always been my passion. To be equiped for that, I went to school and earned a BS in Sciences of education. This degree not only prepares me to teach subjects like French, history, math, but also it helps me to perform school administration work. I have also earned a Master's Degree in Leadership Studies from Lincoln Christian University which not only enables me to tutor but also to mentor.
