I like to use the Socratic method, mainly by asking questions and challenging assumptions. In addition, I like to engage those I teach, challenging them to think about what they previously have not considered. I believe in building on successes, and offering constructive criticism, where appropriate.
I have mentored various people since 2000, in all types of subjects, including math, science, social sciences, English, writing, literature, and other related subjects. My academic record is very strong, and I believe empowering those I work with every single time. The only pre-requisites are that you have to be willing to learn, and learn how to learn.

I have a somewhat relaxed teaching style that does not compromise the distinction or respect between student and teacher. This teaching style results in a classroom atmosphere where students feel comfortable responding to my questions and asking for further clarification about complex topics. Many students have told me that my teaching style is refreshing and they feel comfortable in class.
With my numerous experiences in education, I think I could be a great asset in helping students become more knowledgeable. I love teaching and tutoring children of all ages. Although I have only formally been tutoring for about 6 years, I was a tutor all through my childhood helping other children learn when I finished with my classwork. Since first grade I have always wanted to be a teacher, although my brain tried to steer me in a different direction in college. Yet, my heart brought me back to teaching. I am very considerate of every child no matter their weakness; however I play close attention to their strenghts and play off those strenghts in the classroom. Each person learns at an individual pace. I use the Gardner system of multiple intelligences to facilitate individual learning style. I do not believe something is impossible to learn, or unteachable. Patience is a moral and ethic rule with my personal professional style.
I have worked with different levels of mental health and emotional maturity for several years.
