A Little Bit About Me...

At Loyola University, as director of the Writing Lab, I used peer tutoring and computers to assist students in the composition classes. I developed a love for tutoring and remediation -- for the student who needs one-on-one instruction. I allow the student to be successful. Every lesson must end in success and praise. It also helps that I have a good sense of humor and a knack for discovering each student's personal interests and melding those into the lessons. It's imperative instruction be individualized, positive and patient.
After I got my BA and Illinois secondary school certification, I pursued my MFA in Playwriting at the University of Utah. I forged a career as a writer and journalist. A Little Bit About Me...

I taught English as a second language to adults and children in Austria and Germany while living there (total 4 years). I speak fluent German and lived in Europe for a total of 13 years. In LA, I taught english to a number of Korean and Japanese young adults. I taught at Inlingua and WIFI Institute in Austria and at a business english school in Hamburg.
We play word games, read out loud, discuss cartoons and ask each other questions/answers. Try to vary up the hour. I am a very patient teacher and try to assess if the student is understanding all that I am teaching. I ask plenty of questions and try to get them to communicate with me and others in the group, if it's a class situation.
