A Little Bit About Me...

I taught High School US, World and European history to grades 10 - 12. I taught AP European History and Government. I taught Geography, Civics, and Psychology for 5 years. I have owned my own construction firm for 10 years and worked in manufacturing. My specialty is European History with an emphasis in the classics. My literature background is not formal but is extensive.
I have always emphasized the immeasurable distinction between education and schooling. Although the two are not necessarily mutually exclusive, in our era they are more and more. I strive to draw a student into a fascination with learning. If that occurs, then education is a fait accompli.

I recently obtained my MA degree in education and also hold a BS degree in Exercise Science. I am certified to teach grades Kindergarten through eighth grade in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. I am certified to teach language arts , science, math, and social studies. I have previously taught for the Robeson County school system in North Carolina teaching sixth grade science and social studies. A Little Bit About Me...

I love the give and take of working with high school students. I relish hearing fresh, young opinions and seeing how they decide what they believe in and why. My style entails showing a student the relevance of what he or she is doing. It is important for a child to know WHY what they are supposed to be learning is so important; they need to know how it will help them years from now after the classes are over. My best quality as a teacher is my ability to connect on a level that is comfortable for my students.
